Custom Fabricated Nerf Longshot Aluminium Bolt Sled - Review!

The Nerf Longshot has been one of the more popular blasters in the Nerf blaster range due to its high modification potential, but one of its weaker internal components is the bolt sled which has a tendency to crack or break when used with stronger aftermarket springs.

Solution: Custom Fabricated Nerf Longshot Aluminium Bolt Sled!

The custom fabricated bolt sleds are made from precision milled aluminium and designed for a direct fit in Longshots.

  1. Can you get them made for sale? If not, how do I get one built/make one?

  2. Bryce,

The aluminum bolt sleds were custom made by a metal fabrication company. The forum group order for the sets was organised by hanzo at the NerfSG forum.

If you are keen on one, check with hanzo at the NerfSG forum.

Would you sell a brass breeched LS with one of those custom bolt sleds?
    If yes, how much?

  6. htrfghg,

Well, i'm not planning to sell any of my brass breeched Longshots at the moment. And I currently only have one aluminium bolt sled, so i'm not planning to sell that either.

  11. Um my bolt sled on my ls is really close to breaking and i cant get a replacement or that aluminium boltsled. I know that i could single it but im not sure about something. Can i use pvc instead of cpvc?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Master,

Well, the difference between PVC and CPVC is basically the heat tolerance of the pipe material... which isn't an issue in Nerf blaster modding.

Your main objective is to use a pipe (can be PVC or CPVC) with dimensions that fit your foam darts properly as a barrel or breech. You'll have to source around and test various pipe brands and dimensions to find the ideal fit.

  13. Thanks! Im in australia so its pretty hard to find smaller pipes at hardware stores. :'( Ill be sure to look hard. btw your site mods reviews and contributions to other sites are really helpful.

  14. do you know where to get steel stampede parts angd gearboxes?

  15. rapidfiresweetness,

I guess you could try hobby shops which deal in similar gearing and mechanical components... or contract a metal parts fabrication company to custom make them.

  16. Is it possible to get the measurements (I take it he used autocad for the ordering process) from Hanzo, so that I could send them in and order them from a company in the States?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Matt,

You'll have to check directly with him at the NerfSG forum, just send him a message over there.

Alternatively, you could take the measurements from your own plastic Longshot boltsled for reference.

  24. I know I'm a little late to this item, but who should I ask for the design specs? A friend of mine works in a machine shop and can probably make me one.

    1. Cameron Leggett,

You could check with hanzo or Zinv at the NerfSG forum, they were the ones who got the aluminum bolt sleds custom made.

Alternatively, just take out your stock Longshot bolt sled and use its dimensions to custom make the metal version.

    2. I wasn't sure if I could just use the standard sled as a guide, didn't know if they had to change anything on the design. I think I'll try them over at Newton forum, best to have the original design. Thanks a lot!
