Nerf Stampede "SMG" Conversion!

Minimized Stampede... my "SMG" version! :)

Gaps covered by assorted bits and pieces from chopped out parts (guess which parts the bits came from?).

Retained shoulder stock.

Relocated battery pack.

And this is what i call... the "SpamFire" Combo! :)

  1. can you do a write up on this?

  2. Now that is definitely nice! Very good and clean work. How's the accuracy though? I'm assuming it'll be good for cqb type of games as the darts might go wild with the short barrel. Correct me if I'm wrong though

  3. That is so awesome. I want to get one and do that to it now.

  4. Chris,

Well, i'm not planning any write-up for this conversion 'cos its basically just chopping off various sections and gluing on bits from the excess plastic. I guess you can trace the cut lines from the photos quite easily. :)

  5. surkrew,

In my case, i use customized foam darts which were accurate in the beginning so for my unit the accuracy was still the same with or without the front barrel.

Users who still use stock Nerf streamlines darts will most probably see a drop in accuracy though.

  6. This looks AWESOME Sg! I am constantly impressed by your creativity!

Have you thought about relocating the battery pack inside the stock? I'm assuming you kept the batteries where they were so you can easily switch them out for fresh ones.

  7. KiyoshiAphelion ,

Yes, its possible to relocate the battery pack into the back part of the shoulder stock too, the space there is abit limited though so it'll require some re-configuration of the battery positioning and the wiring will need to re-route through the catch and plunger section.

You're right, i decided to position the battery pack nearer the middle of the casing so that it'll be easier to access quickly... and it also helps to keep the weight balance centered too. :)

That is quite awesome. I'd do that to my Stampede if I had another one...and a 4xAA battery pack.
This looks really clean, well done!

  9. question.. i know it may sound odd.. did you remove the internal before you chop the bits?

  10. Onse,

Yes, for the shell sections that are being cut, i removed and seperated all the internal components in those areas to prevent any accidental damage to them during the cutting process.

  11. thanks for the info.. just finish mine not as clean cut as yours. i used foam padding at the front end same goes for the empty battery cover at the back. thanks again for the tips

  12. I have also finished mine. My goals are a little bit different l, though. I have installed some screws in the front of the minimized gun so I can always install the removed front part as a sort of "removable barrel extension". This way I can transport the minimized stampede to our office in a small bag.

  13. Could you ditch the integrated shoulder stock and make an attachment for the raider shoulder stock?

  14. Red Utah,

Well, you could remove part of the back section, but a portion of it actually houses the plunger and catch system, so there is a limit to how much of the rear shoulder stock that can be removed.

Check out its internal layout at my Stampede Internals Guide:

  17. SGNerf,
I did a mod similar to this based on your designs. I hope that you enjoy this visual qupte of your work. It's listed on my blog of guns that I have for ebay sales.

I'd love to hear what you think.

  18. lasagna678,

    Looks great!

I like your method of adding a Longshot shoulder stock clip holder to the Stampede, as well as the addition of extra tactical rails.

Lots of other interesting mods and repaints you have there too. :)

  19. Fantastic mod. Do the bipod and sheild still fit on in their intended places? Also, were there any particularly difficult parts to this minimization that we should know about/ be aware of?

  20. Will,

Yes, the shield and bipod can still be mounted on the tactical rails that are remaining after minimization.

I guess the main thing to focus on when doing such blaster minimization mods is to cut the parts as steadily and accurately as possible.

  21. What do you use to cut the plastic parts? It seems so clean.....

  22. interceptor,

    I use a Dremel.

    1. Bednesti,

The ranges are slightly better due to the shorter faux barrel, around 5-10% improvement over existing modded ranges.
