  1. do you guys think it's possible to mod this with the motorization of the thunderstorm? i mean i think there's more than enough space for a conversion...

  2. Cryeise,

I guess its possible, you could try to transfer all the internal parts from a Thunderstorm into an empty Tornado Strike casing, it'll just be a shell swap project.

  3. I know it's been almost a year, but I'm planning on motorizing the TS.

You have to use a powerful motor to turn the gears. As is, they go from big (high power, low speed) to small, so you probably need to reverse them somehow, as a motor is weaker and faster than an arm.

The Pump would need to be replaced by an electrical one, but I'm still trying to figure out what to use. Ideally, it would be producing a continuous stream at high pressure for greater ranges.
I don't really know much about pumps, so I could use some help here.

I could use a peristaltic pump like the one from the Thunderstorm, but they seem too weak in general. Or I could use a connecting rod and a crank powered by a powerful motor to power the original pump. But that would be kinda overkill and hard to build.

Additionally, I would need to mod a clip with a hose leading to a camelbak for obvious reasons.

    So... What do you think?

    1. Jakob,

I guess it can be an interesting project, seems like a fair bit of modding work required though. Maybe you could check the Super Soaker forums to get some modding ideas.

Alternatively, perhaps it'll be easier to just get a Thunderstorm to mod and use instead. :D

    1. Robert,

There is no trigger in the Tornado Strike, it just operates by moving the pump grip... i guess most likely the gears inside the pump mechanism are faulty or damaged, that's why it makes the odd sounds.

You can open it up and try to fix it... or just buy a new one and save all the hassle. :)
