No-Brand Semi-Auto Blaster - Internal Mechanism

Seems like alot of modders are interested to find out how exactly the No-Brand Semi-Auto Blaster works.

Here is a a more close-up view of its internal mechanism and a video of the mechanism in operation.

  7. That's really cool, but how does it know to release the spring at the top?

  8. Kyle,

If you watch the mechanism video closely, you'll see that when the trigger pull reaches the end of its travel, the white rocker catch is pressed down by a notch in the casing and that action releases the plunger.

  9. This gun doesn't look like it would fire very far, though, looking at the mechanism...

  10. Is there anyway i could buy two of these from you?

  11. Could use this mechanism in a maverick?

  12. TimHi0406,

Its possible, just need to figure out methods to adapt that trigger-activated priming design to a Maverick. :)

  13. if you were to make a maverick use this system, wouldn't the rotate system need to be made longer due to the longer trigger pull?

  14. pritchy96,

Yup, thats one of the issues to figure out if this trigger priming system were to be adapted for the Maverick.

In addition, the trigger will also require much more effort to pull due to the stronger spring in the Maverick too.

Hopefully, modders might eventually solve both issues and create semi-auto trigger priming Mavericks. :)

  15. This gun is cool but probrably only worth an indoor pistol from the looks of it the plunger tube is tiny but yea =)

  17. Halo Master 835,

Well, as these are 3rd-party no-brand OEM kind of blasters, these would usually pop up at the smaller neighbourhood dept stores or thrift shops. Keep a lookout for such blasters at those places.

  18. I'm in the process of trying to mod my Nerf Mavorick to use the technique that this gun uses. The problem is the length of the trigger vs the length of the plunger. Changing the length the plunger goes is easy, it's really just a trade-off of finger strength vs dart shot. When I get the trigger mechanism designed, I'll post some pictures.

  20. Hey there,
I know that I am digging this post out of history (sorry, teehee), but I wanted to suggest that you could use these combined with a fly-wheel system to make a compact, yet powerful blaster. Good luck if you try it.

  21. Now how can we make a Maverick do this?

    ReplyDelete
  22. would you be able to try a mod that would mimic the mechanism for a mavrick ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. bonescythe99,

Its possible, just requires some creative modding to adapt that design to a Maverick.

Do post up a mod guide for reference if you manage to do it. :)

  24. Ooh. This gives me an excellent idea.
Instead of the standard reverse spring that pushes the trigger back into place, put in a spring that is under tension when the trigger is in the forward position, but isn't strong enough to overcome the strength of the main plunger spring.
This will help you to pull the trigger back on the heavier mavrick spring.
Then, because you don't need the cocking mechanism from the mavrick anymore, you can replace it with some kind of a hammer that you can pull down with your thumb to put the trigger back into the forward position.

    What do you think?

    1. Aughisky,

Interesting idea... i'm assuming you mean putting a 2nd spring with a load that is opposite to the main spring (to help compress it).

If that's the concept, i'm thinking how would the 2nd spring that was under tension "de-link" from the main plunger spring once its primed, so that when it fires, the force of the main spring doesn't end up getting absorbed by the 2nd spring?

And assuming if the 2nd spring can be "de-linked" after the main spring is primed, the 2nd spring will become relaxed, then how would it be re-compressed again to help in the next priming action?

Not sure if i've gotten your concept right though... perhaps you could do up a diagram or maybe even mod a blaster to demo your idea further. :)
