The Nerf Vulcan's stock 25-dart ammo belt can seem abit short for such a high RoF blaster.
Lets extend them for more ammo capacity...
Step 1: Put the ends of 2 ammo belts side-by-side.
Step 2: Remove the screws from each end-block. Remove the covers.
Step 3: Cut a small notch on one of the belts to fit on the other belt's clip.
Step 4: Attach the cover back to the connected belt and install the screws back securely.
Final Step: You now have a 50-dart ammo belt!
You can keep connecting ammo belts until you get your desired ammo capacity, i'm sure some of you are already planning to go for 100-dart ammo belts!
To revert the belts back to stock 25-dart ammo belts, just reverse the process. :)
will the middle blank dart be fired?
ReplyDeleteYup, the belt feed mechanism will spool through the blank part and fire it, so you'll just see a momentary skip when firing in full auto.
ReplyDeleteCan see it as a sort of notification when a complete 25-dart section has been fired. :)
thanks very much! oh and wont the amount of darts decrease to 47?
ReplyDeleteThe blanks are additional pieces at both ends of each 25-dart ammo belt (blanks are not considered part of the 25-darts)... therefore 2 ammo belts linked together will still be 50 foam darts.
ReplyDeletecan you make like a 300 dart belt
ReplyDeleteYes, just buy 12 x 25-dart Vulcan Ammo Belts and link them together.
ReplyDeleteOnce you've done it... do post up a photo of your 300 dart belt, i'll be curious to see how you're actually going to carry around that length of ammo belt! :D
modified backpack?
DeleteCan you PLEASE post how to make a 50 dart ammo box?
ReplyDeleteWell, i guess you could either mod 2 ammo boxes together or get a large plastic box to hold the longer ammo belts (you can find suitable plastic boxes at hardware stores).
ReplyDeleteDo consider that you'd also need to make provisions to contain the emptied section of the long belt or else it will get in the way and cause jams.
there will be a delay on the belt
ReplyDeleteuse a 50.cal ammo box
ReplyDeletethre will be no 300 dart belt
ReplyDeletethere will be a 500 dart belt
then when im done im going to film my mate charging
Somehow I see someone using a large cardboard box and MANY ammo belts to make a 5,000 dart belt.:)
ReplyDeletexavier you want to take my mates place
ReplyDeletewouldnt it be 49, because you would havve to get rid of one cartridge? See steps 2-4 in your blog, and count the cartridges. It would be 49, wouldnt it. I've seen this before in a long strip and counted 49. sorry for droning on 8-)(:-)
ReplyDeleteOh, i get it now the ends dont count, ok.
ReplyDeletewhere can u buy the vulcan ammo belts without buying the vulcan again
ReplyDeleteThe Vulcan Ammo Belt refill packs are avaliable at most major dept stores in Singapore.
ReplyDeleteYou may need to shop around if it happens to be out-of-stock at some stores.
go on youtube.com and type :Nerf Vulcan 50 dart belt mod;that will you how to connect them together :)
ReplyDeleteI did this mod as instructed and my Vulcan keeps jamming at the point of attachment. I've taken the added weight into consideration but even when both ends are lifted at a decent angle jamming still occurs...
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed that the blanks have a different shape on there underside compared to the ones that fire darts. And on the right side of the Vulcan there are two "ramps" that I suspect may interfere with the firing mechanism of the extended belt...
Any ideas?
Drax Dauragon,
ReplyDeleteYou can try loading the ammo belt with the Nerf logos facing downwards (screws facing upwards), that seems to help most users.
Just tried that today, still no luck. If worst comes to worst I'll just undo the mod.
ReplyDeleteThey don't have empty ones on both sides anymore just a green one on the front!
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteLooks like for the new versions of the ammo belts (with the green blanks), you'll have to adjust the mod to link them properly.
How can I do that?
ReplyDeleteSorry I am a total newbie to Nerf mod
Could you maybe do a tutorial on this
Michael,
ReplyDeleteWell, i don't have any of the new ammo belt versions, so i can't do a tutorial on it.
I guess you'll just need to pry open up the last ammo shell in the new belts and simply secure the canvas belt piece from other new belt inside it, then close back the ammo shell.
Yeah. You pry open the last real shell on one belt, take of the blank shell on the second belt, and then feed the strap through the empty side of the first belt and glue it.
ReplyDeleteyou can do it exactly the same way, you do just need to loose one shot each belt,, unless you find away to attach the belts without stitching or glue XD
Deletewell its complicated but cut the chain on both right before the last cartridge then use like thick thread and stitch them together
ReplyDeleteNow the belts are different on the front and back side, so if I connect then half will be upside-down. Should I do the mod, or just use two 25 round belts?
ReplyDeleteJoseph,
ReplyDeleteWell, i've not had a chance to mod the new ammo belts yet so i can't really advise you on that aspect.
Perhaps you could just try various methods to see if they can work.
Thanks, I just preyed off one of the normal shells, and connected the belts. And for future reference, now the shells are VERY different, and the last half inch of the shells are cut. (see a picture of the new Vulcan box, the picture on the back has the new belt)
ReplyDeletecan you try to mod the belt with the japanese vulcan belt? i cant seem to do it with the ones they sell in japan.
ReplyDeleteAska,
ReplyDeleteIf you are referring to the new versions of the Nerf ammo belt that come with the green coloured blanks, they can also be joined together in the same way.
Not too sure if those are the same versions as the ones you got in japan though.
The newer belts only have the end piece on one side (in the U.S. at least) so I just flipped one belt upside down and joined them at the green dummy shell. The Vulcan still fires fine (no jamming) with the upside down belt, but this method is limited to making 50 round belts since each belt only has one dummy shell.
ReplyDeleteNice mod, by the way. Takes about five minutes, and doubles the blaster's capacity.
dont put like 300 belts otherwise it will were out the batteries/vulcan do you agree SG and by the way what is the biggest modding mistake you have made and you blog is awesome :D
ReplyDeleteA123,
ReplyDeleteLinking Vulcan ammo belts to get a continuous 300 shots would be quite a challenge. It'll be interesting to see how a modded Vulcan will hold up to all that stress.
My biggest modding mistake was to brass breech a Nerf Recon... the performance improvement was so limited (only an additional 5-10ft, mainly due to the small reverse plunger volume) that i felt it was quite a waste of good quality brass tubes! :)
I did this mod, and without a box to hold the belt, the weight of it will prevent the feeding mechanism from working properly. My solution: sacrifice a dart or two and sew the ends together, creating a loop. Just slip it over the end of the gun to load it. Works beautifully, won't fall out onto the ground when empty, and no need for a box. :)
ReplyDeletecould you make a box to hold the belt underneath the vulcan? kinda like a RPD. It would be helpful holding an extended belt.
ReplyDeleteShadowOps,
ReplyDeleteYes, a customized larger ammo box would be useful to hold extended ammo belts, users commonly make them with plastic or cardboard boxes. It'll help reduce the weight of the extended belt pulling on the motorized rotating mechanism.
i have two belts of 25 each but the ends are green, not gray and the greens only have space in the sides for one belt.
ReplyDeletewhere i can buy the green ends?
alfa66andres,
ReplyDeleteI guess you just have to buy more ammo belts to get those green end shells... btw, why not just do some additional DIY to adapt them to fit instead.
i need an ammo belt in the uk and i can only find them for £27 in the uk but 6 or 7 in the us but they wont ship it were in the uk can i get on for under £10
ReplyDeleteMy belts don't work like that... I have American belts, and they have one on only one side. The only way I could do it is if I took off the last shot and then got it on. But I can't get the last one off!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
DeleteI guess you are referring to the new versions with the end shells in green? Yeah, you'll just have to do abit of work-around to join them.
Then use the one side, or buy imported belts
DeleteWrong about me making a 100rd. belt! In a gonna make one so that it's endless! About 64 of the 25rd. belts. That's 1600 darts! XD
ReplyDeletewhat's the world record for a moded nerf gun. belt may be a little to easy.
